Air India announce a new smart app for passengers

Air India has simply launched a very new app for its quite 18-million passengers. designed by world technology supplier Sita, the app makes it even easier for passengers to book, check-in and manage each side of their journey from their mobile device.


The airline’s new app meets the growing demand for mobile services in India and supports its drive to increase direct client booking – each domestically and internationally, an Air India media statement explicit .
Incidentally, over one billion Indians use a mobile phone these days. Of these, quite 300 million often use them to access the net, a trend that’s expected to grow by fifty six per annum.

Built on SITA’s iTravel platform, the Air India app offers the ability to book and purchase a flight by quickly and firmly scanning each your passport and mastercard. Passengers will totally manage their booking from their mobile device, together with choosing their seat, creating changes to their itinerary, shopping for extra services, selecting their meal and checking in. The app has also been integrated with Air India’s Flying Returns loyalty program wherever passengers will firmly access details of points attained or different updates to their accounts.

Elaborating on the launch, Air India chairman & MD Ashwani Lohani said: “Mobile apps are getting a very important tool for creating travel bookings by passengers who are tech-savvy and wish to access data on the go… The new app, developed by Sita, provides an elevated mobile expertise where passengers will simply manage each step of their journey on their phone or pill despite wherever they’re.”

The new mobile service are going to be accessible on android, iOS and Windows.

SITA’s vp for {india|India|Republic of India and landmass Maneesh Jaikrishna said: “We have worked aboard Air India over the past few years, supporting their traveller management and distribution at each step. This new app is an extension of that relationship, delivering a good expertise to their passengers and gap up new opportunities within the fast-changing market here in India.”

iTravel is a component of SITA’s Horizon traveller Management & Distribution resolution utilized by Air India since 2010 to manage each aspect of its traveller operation from reservations, departure management services, ticketing, ecommerce, loyalty in addition as fares and revenue integrity.
